“White Bear of the Sea” 2004

Watercolor, gesso and white ink were applied to illustration board for the creation of this interesting piece.

Values of blue were arranged and sprayed with water so the colors would run. White ink dropped into wet paint created the look of foam on the waves. Textures were produced by pressing plastic wrap onto wet areas. Gesso and watercolor were used for the sky.

A visitor to my studio remarked about the bear. “What bear?” I replied. I’d never noticed him before. He’d suddenly emerged from the raging waters…this “White Bear of the Sea”.
